In 2011 my wife Maria was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). Until 2015 I was able to take care of her without additional help. For the next 3 years the WISE Daycare Center helped out. Sadly the FTD had worsened and it was time to look for a 24/7 placement. Early in2018 I checked out “My Mother’s Place”. It is an RCFE licensed home to take in up to 6 residents. I signed Maria up and never regretted my choice. Maria stayed there for 5 ½ years until recently in August of 2023 when our Creator decided to take her back to the eternal home.
My Mother’s Place didn’t just become her new home but mine as well. Choosing mutually agreeable hours and not getting in way I felt welcomed by Hilda, the owner, and her dedicated staff. Same goes for Bruce, a small comfort dog. Maria’s condition kept declining over the years requiring more care. The staff adapted easily to all new challenges. My Mother’s Place felt safe and warm enhanced by the smell of daily home cooked meals. My Mother’s Place was kept meticulous clean. While comfortably resting in recliner chairs the residents were always safely in full view either from the kitchen or other areas. The residents were helped to maintain their mobility as long as possible by whatever exercise was appropriate. The backyard was commendable. We enjoyed many hours socializing with staff and other residents outside shaded by a large umbrella. Regardless of the person’s physical and mental condition Hilda and her staff treated all residents with respect and dignity. During the difficult times of COVID Hilda went beyond the call of duty to ensure that the staff and residents were getting the latest COVID shots. During the pandemic visitors paying attention to a few safety rules continues to be welcomed. To her credit all residents and staff members made it safely through that terrible time.
Looking back I made the right decision 5 ½ years ago. Maria got the best care possible. Contact me by email ‘friendsetc@verizon.net’ for more information.

My mother, Vela Pope, lived at "My Mother's Place" for a year. She moved there from a skilled nursing facility following hip replacement surgery. Recovering from a hip replacement requires special care. This was expertly provided by MMP's thoughtful, caring staff. Even though Mom had paid a large "Admissions" fee for a guaranteed-life contract at a continuing care community and also had Long Term Care insurance to pay benefits if she lived in a Skilled Nursing Facility, she did not need IVs or feeding tubes, and did not want to live in a "facility". She received better custodial nursing care at "My Mother's Place", due to their better staff-to-resident ratio, for less than she was paying even with the guaranteed-life contract and LTC insurance benefits. But more importantly, Mom felt "at home". My Mother's Place" truly is just that.” - Bill Pope, 310-391-3887
“My Mother's Place is a true Godsend. It is truly a home away from home for my mother. The house is warm and cozy and kept immaculately clean at all times. The meals are prepared with fresh, natural foods. The accessibility is very conducive to the needs of aging parents. My mother really loves this place. Hilda, the owner, has a unique personality that is perfect for dealing with the residents in a gentle, loving way. I can sleep well every night knowing my mother is in such good hands.” - Rochelle Albans
"My friend has been a resident in the cheerful atmosphere of My Mother's Place for over 5 years. Even though her condition has progressively declined, she continues to receive the most loving , considerate and appropriate care possible." - Karen Haider
“My mother resided at “My Mother’s Place” for nearly two and a half years. During that time, she received excellent care relative to her many physical needs, as well a her emotional needs. She was loved held and nurtured by gentle staff members who often went above and beyond the call of duty---- they even did her nails and cut her hair for her. My mother was truly cared for in every sense of the word while resident at this elderly care facility. Thank you, Hilda, from the bottom of my heart fro having such a wonderful and excellent staff.” - Cevia Szelog
